May 1, 2022 – HAMILTON, ON: The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce its former President & CEO, Keanin Loomis has been named the winning recipient of the 2022 Burnie Gillespie Memorial Award.
The award was presented in Brampton on Saturday at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s Annual General Meeting & Conference Gala – an annual gathering for the chamber network to connect, shape our advocacy agenda for the year ahead, and celebrate the extraordinary efforts of our chamber peers.
Burnie Gillespie was a long-serving board member of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. He devoted his life to volunteering and was an inspiring leader to chamber professionals for over 25 years. His namesake award is given to a chamber of commerce or board of trade manager who is dedicated to community service and exhibits exceptional leadership to the organization.
When taking the role of President & CEO in 2013, Keanin was tasked with reestablishing the chamber as a pillar organization in our community. During his tenure, Keanin was focused on initiatives that supported an inclusive economy, infrastructure, and championed small businesses everywhere. Beyond his role leading the Chamber, Keanin was involved in various charities and mentoring young professionals. It is for these reasons and more that he was successfully selected to receive the Burnie Gillespie Memorial Award. This is the second time Loomis has been awarded this honour during his tenure.
