The State, Impact and Future of Business Education in Canada: Employer/Business Focus Groups with The Conference Board of Canada
The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce would like to invite our members and Hamilton businesses to attend a focus group and survey project hosted by the Conference Board of Canada. You can find and fill out the survey here: https://t.co/3K4VHzWHzI
The focus group will be held from 12pm – 2pm on February 5th 2016 in the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce Boardroom (120 King Street West Hamilton, Plaza Level). RSVP ASAP as seats are limited. Lunch will be provided. RSVPS can be sent to h.saeed@hamiltonchamber.ca or through the registration module before
Purpose of the Focus Group
The focus group aims to learn more about the perspectives of employers on the state of business education in Canada. It will explore questions related to what they look for in a candidate; whether they see graduates as well prepared to do their job; and whether and how their business partners with a university, college or polytechnic for training or research/advice.
Some specific questions will include:
- Have you hired people with a business education? Why or why not?
- How easy is it to hire the business talent you need?
- What business skills are most in demand for your industry?
- What are your thoughts on the skill levels and quality of candidates?
- How much do you expect to train a new hire in-house?
This is a unique opportunity for businesses to express their views and needs in a way that will help Canadian policymakers, post-secondary institutions, and advanced education leaders make strategic decisions that will improve the provision of business education in Canada.
This focus group is part of The Conference Board of Canada’s project The State, Impact and Future of Business Education in Canada.
