October 20, 2021 – HAMILTON, ON: On Saturday, November 20, 2021, the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is bringing back Hamilton Day. The organization first held the event in 1931 during the depths of the Great Depression to boost spirits and the local economy. While it was only one day in an economic downturn that carried on for years, Hamilton Day was symbolic of a rallying spirit in the face of adversity.

This report heard from nearly 1,600 self-identified women over the course of 2020-2021 and highlights the local impact of COVID-19 on women’s careers and livelihood.

Hamilton Chamber of Commerce Launches “Hamilton Rapid Testing” Program

JUNE 9, 2021 – HAMILTON: The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is pleased to provide small- and medium-sized businesses in Hamilton with COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Testing Kits for their workplace. This benefit for businesses is made possible through the COVID-19 Rapid Screening Initiative – an initiative with the Ontario Chamber Network.

The rapid testing kits are free and are available for SMEs with fewer than 150 employees.

On Monday, April 19 Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, released Budget 2021: A Recovery Plan for Jobs, Growth, and Resilience, the Government of Canada’s plan to finish the fight against COVID-19 and ensure a robust economic recovery that brings all Canadians along.

The COVID-19 recession is the steepest and fastest economic contraction since the Great Depression.

On March 24, the Minister of Finance and President of the Treasury Board, Peter Bethlenfalvy, released Ontario’s Action Plan: Protecting People’s Health and Our Economy. The 2021 Budget is the next phase of Ontario’s response to COVID-19 and is the second Budget the government has delivered during the pandemic.

The 2021 Budget builds on the government’s record investments in response to the global pandemic, bringing total investments to $16.3 billion to protect people’s health and $23.3 billion to protect our economy.
