Chamber & Mohawk College Launch “Now Hiring Hamilton”, resources to address hiring, retention challenges for businesses

Hamilton-area businesses facing workforce challenges now have more tools to help them find, hire and retain employees, with the launch of a new series of resources from Now Hiring Hamilton.

Now Hiring Hamilton – a collaboration between the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce Mohawk College, Workforce Planning Hamilton and the Economic Development Department of the City of Hamilton – released the final report of its research as well as a series of online resources for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the city.

Hamilton Chamber Launches Rainbow Registered Accreditation Program in Hamilton with Canada’s LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce

The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and Canada’s LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) are partnering together to offer Hamilton businesses the Rainbow Registered Accreditation.

Rainbow Registered is a nationally recognized safe space accreditation program developed by the CGLCC, Tourism HR Canada, and funded by the Federal government. It recognizes Canadian businesses and organizations that are LGBT+ inclusive, and in turn helps customers, clients, partners and prospective employees to identify LGBT+ friendly businesses and organizations.

The most common definition has been the medical model which frames disability as an impairment and a feature of a person’s body. The social model of disability reframes a disability as a mismatched interaction between a person and their environment.

January 25, 2022 – HAMILTON, ON: The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce together with Mohawk College have launched an initiative under an Ontario Labour Market Partnership (OLMP) to support local small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) with workforce development and retention strategies.

The project aims to generate a workforce development and onboarding strategy along with a community asset map scanning the Hamilton SME landscape, their needs, existing resources, and gaps in resources to support SMEs and job seekers alike in a COVID-19 recovery context.
