On November 28th, the Government of Ontario released the province’s Long-Term Infrastructure Plan (LTIP) entitled Building Better Lives: Ontario’s Long-Term Infrastructure Plan 2017. The plan sets forth a vision for Ontario infrastructure planning and investment and is a key interim step in meeting the requirements of the Infrastructure for Jobs and Prosperity Act, 2015 (IJPA).

On November 15th, 2017, Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa announced a Fall Economic Update. This blog post with content support from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce highlights announcements relevant to businesses.
The fall statement forecasts real GDP growth of 2.8 percent in 2017, up from 2.3 percent in the 2017 Budget.

HAMILTON October 11, 2017: The federal government today announced that a bid to build an Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster in Southern Ontario is on a shortlist of nine proposals that could qualify for a piece of a $950-million cluster development fund to spark high-quality jobs and global competitiveness.
Innovation Minister Navdeep Bains made the announcement during a media conference earlier in the day.

Hamilton, Wednesday, September 27, 2017 – Today, the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) and the Keep Ontario Working (KOW) Coalition released two major reports that broadly capture the challenges associated with Bill 148 and the concerns of the employer community. The first report is the final economic impact analysis of Bill 148 by the Canadian Centre for Economic Analysis’ (CANCEA), which was peer-reviewed by Professor Morley Gunderson of the University of Toronto.

Hamilton, ON, September 25th, 2017: The Canadian Chamber of Commerce recently concluded its annual general meeting held between September 23rd to 25th in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The convention is centered around a policy process that featured almost 70 resolutions submitted from Chambers of Commerce across Canada, which were then formally debated, resulting in adoption or rejection.
