Regional Leaders to Gather in Hamilton-Burlington on June 26 to Help Drive Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster and Other Shared Priorities

HAMILTON February 22, 2018: Canada’s Innovation Corridor Business Council, a partnership of leading chambers of commerce and boards of trade in the Greater Golden Horseshoe, today announced a bold new summit to promote global competitiveness through regional connectivity and collaboration.

The inaugural Canada’s Innovation Corridor Summit will take place on Tuesday June 26 from 8 am to 4 pm at Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton-Burlington. The event is expected to attract a capacity gathering of more than 350 senior leaders keen to foster deeper and broader cooperation needed to unlock the Corridor region’s full economic potential.

This year’s summit theme — “Building Canada’s Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster” — is timed to ride the growing wave of excitement surrounding this new private-public sector initiative.

Delegates will learn more about the rollout of a historic $800 million investment in the future of Canadian manufacturing, including support for companies adopting Industry 4.0 technologies and scaling up to enter the global marketplace.

“The summit represents another milestone in the growth and influence of our Council,” said Jan De Silva, President and CEO of the Toronto Region Board of Trade and Co-Chair of Canada’s Innovation Corridor Business Council. “It’s a marquee platform to act on three current priorities shared by companies and municipalities across the Corridor region: Advanced Manufacturing, People and Goods Movement, and Workforce Development. The goal is to make Canada’s Innovation Corridor one of the most competitive and sought-after business regions in the world. It’s essential that we work together to develop world-class talent, technologies and transportation infrastructure.”

The program will offer a mix of presentations, panels and breakouts. High profile speakers and agenda details will be announced in the coming weeks.
